Biography

Mrs. Mehaffie is passionate about helping others. She received a B.A. in Elementary Education from the Pennsylvania State University in 1997. She enjoyed teaching preschoolers and elementary school children. Early in her professional career she helped woman improve their lives while working at Dauphin County’s Program for Female Offenders. She helped women focus on the best interests of their children. She also helped young men incarcerated at the Dauphin County prison by providing basic instruction in reading, writing and mathematics.

She believes in hard work and prides herself on attention to detail. Her life experiences as a former single mother and now as a grandparent provide her with a personal understanding of the many challenges single parents and grandparents face. She is also passionate about advocating for her brother and others impacted by autism.

She graduated from the Widener University School of Law in 2003. During law school she interned for the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office in the Insurance Fraud Division where she evaluated referrals. She also worked as a law clerk for a private law firm focusing on family law matters. After graduating from law school, she worked in the private sector on a variety of legal matters before deciding to concentrate exclusively in family law matters.

Mrs. Mehaffie concentrates in family law and practices throughout Central Pennsylvania, including Adams, Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry, Lebanon, Lancaster, Mifflin, Juniata, Northumberland, and York counties.

She is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Family Law Section, Dauphin County Bar Association Family Law Section and Cumberland County Bar Association Family Law Section. She has served as conflict counsel for the Dauphin County Court of Common Pleas representing parents facing termination of their parental rights. She is a past member of the Collaborative Professionals of Central Pennsylvania and past member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. She has also served as a volunteer mediator for Neighborhood Dispute Settlement. She has lectured for the Dauphin County Bar Association and National Business Institute on a variety of family law issues.

Mrs. Mehaffie was strong ties to our community. She is a native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She is married with one adult child. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her family including two young grandchildren.
